About Organigrow:
Organigrow is a small 70ha farm with 6000 laying hens which is easier for our family to manage and care for properly. We are not automated and employ local staff and family.

Egg yolk and shell colour:
Egg yolk and shell colour do not indicate the nutritional quality of the egg
The egg yolk colour increases with the amount of fresh green grasses and certain type of grains consumed by each hen and their exposure to sunlight. As the hens are free to eat and roam where they please, egg yolks may slightly vary in colour. Farms aim to keep a consistent egg yolk colour. Egg shell colour depends on the age, type and colour of the chicken.
Egg size:
The minimum weight is 58g per egg, with some being over, even up to 65g so you end up with a greater total size.
You'll find within just 1 dozen there will be a variety of sizes aiming for an overal 700g dozen weight. The nature of certified organic real free-range eggs is that the eggs will be of differing sizes as the hens are naturally raised, unlike closed barn style batteries where they only pick very uniform shape and weights, whilst disregarding other eggs just for the look.
Storage: Store these fresh eggs in the refrigerator, especially in hot, warmer, humid months.
Always store eggs in the fridge or a cool place at 5° - 14° C.
Keep eggs away from highly flavoured or aromatic foods as they may pick up flavours.
Also best to store in the carton or ideally in a sealed plastic container as egg shells are porous and absorb surrounding elements.
The 'best before' date of each carton of eggs is around 3-5 weeks from collection. These eggs arrive into Sydney fresh from the farm every week depending on supply.

Organigrow - About Our Organic Free Range Egg Farm:
Organigrow is set on 70 acres of prime agricultural land at Monaltrie (also known as Gundurimba) located about 7kms from the Lismore CBD. Lismore is in Northern NSW, near the towns of Byron Bay, Casino and Ballina, known for being a lush fertile region. Our farm abounds with animals such as echidnas, koalas and swamp wallabies who happily share their land with us. There is also an abundance of birdlife, with finches and wrens enjoying the cover of thick bushes and undergrowth
Our farm is a certified organic farm (our certifications below), producing mixed fruit and vegetables. For a number of years, our produce has been sold to wholesale and retail markets and shops, both locally and interstate. Our farm has a reputation for its quality and variety of organic produce, which forms part of the supply to this region.
Our farm is owned by two generations of the Cripps Clark family. Simon Cripps Clark (owner/ manager), holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science Degree. The decision to go into egg production (mid 2008) was carefully considered and put together by Simon using the latest scientific data and organic principles and Organigrow - Certified Organic Free Range Eggs was born.
Our egg enterprise is an integral part of the organic food production process on our farm. The manure from the chickens, rapidly buried by dung beetles, enriches the soil and in turn increases pasture and crop growth. The chickens graze beneath existing fruit and cabinet timber trees, which in turn shade and shelters the chickens. Manure from the poultry - feeds the trees and increases their growth. When a crop is grown, our hens are allowed to graze the pasture, and they weed off the cropping area entirely! Therefore minimal or zero till cultivation is used to establish the crop in the prepared soil.
Our family loves the land we live on and our aim as farmers has always, and will always be, to work with the land and be organic in every sense of the word extended to every aspect of our farm life and production. We treat our hens with respect, giving them conditions which they love, with access to a diverse and interesting environment free from predators and with plenty of ‘green peck’ in an idyllic foraging environment.
Certifications:
The organic certification is through the Biological Farmers of Australia (BFA) which certifies the whole farm and its produce, including our eggs.
Our Organic Growers of Australia (OGA) certification number is producer 628A.
We have the Heart Foundations tick of approval for our eggs.
We are licensed with the NSW Food Authority.
We are accredited with Humane Choice, True Free Range accreditation, which verifies our farming practices as true free range and pasture raised, animal welfare friendly and environmentally sustainable.
