Derived from the ancient super grain of the Aztecs, amaranth flour provides a unique nutritional profile reflective of the mother grain. It is gluten-free, wheat-free and vegetarian.
 
This smooth, ivory coloured flour has a mild, slightly nutty flavour that is pleasant to taste. It may be used alone or in combination with other flours in baking everything from cookies to muffins and cakes.
 
It makes baked goods more moist. It may also be used as a thickener in sauces, soups and other liquid-based dishes.
 
About Amaranth:
Amaranth, from a Greek word meaning 'never-fading flower', was a staple in the diet of the ancient Aztecs who believed it had supernatural powers. In India, it's known as 'rajeera' (the King's grain).
 
Today, amaranth is revered in various cultures for its amazing nutritional profile. It is naturally gluten-free, easy to digest and has a mild, nutty 'malt-like' flavour.

Amaranth was a dietary staple of the pre-Columbian Aztec empire, who believed it had supernatural powers and incorporated it into their religious ceremonies. This ancient crop was "lost" for hundreds of years, and only since the Sixties, following its rediscovery, has it been grown commercially from wild varieties.

How to enjoy: use where any other flour is required, combine with other gluten free flours e.g. Quinoa or Buckwheat.
