STARS - Hippybottomus Stay Dry Bamboo Cloth Nappy (1)

All of our nappies are a ONE SIZE FITS MOST design. The adjustable sizing means you only need to buy one size nappy! Simply adjust the press studs on the nappy as your baby grows.

The outer is made of polyester with 100% waterproof PUL, so no need for additional covers!

The inner is 100% white bamboo charcoal fleece and is soft against babies skin. It is naturally antibacterial, mildew resistant and provides great ventilation.

The EASY TO USE POCKET DESIGN means the insert sits inside the pocket, allowing for speedy drying, as the nappy has 2 parts and less irritation for your babies skin.

EACH NAPPY COMES WITH 1 INSERT (3 layers of microfibre & 2 layers of bamboo fleece).

Each insert is fast drying and highly absorbent. There is even room to add an extra insert to boost nighttime absorbency.

Sun is this nappy's best care - The outer shell dries in 1-2 hours on a sunny day. After washing, air and dry in the sun to eliminate odours and stains. Tried tested and washes clean easily.

    GENERAL USE:

QUESTION: What do I do with the inserts?
ANSWER: The inserts are placed inside the pocket of your reusable nappy. Usually one insert is enough, but you can also use more to increase absorbency (this is especially useful of a night). Each nappy comes with one insert, and extras can be found on the “Nappy Accessories” page.

QUESTION: How do I adjust the size of my cloth nappy?
ANSWER: The size is adjusted with the bottom 3 rows of snaps (9 snaps in total)?

    + + + row 1?
    + + + row 2?
    + + + row 3?

For small size - fold the bottom row of snaps (row 3) up and clip them into row 1

For medium size - fold the middle row of snaps (row 2) up and clip them into row 1?

For large size - leave all 3 rows unsnapped?

The other snaps are used to adjust the size around the waist (very top row) and around the legs (second row from top)

    WASH INSTRUCTIONS:

    BEFORE WASHING
Store used/dirty nappies in an airy pail / basket and wash them within 2-3 days
Remove any solids before washing. You can also use nappy liners to catch solids and then dispose of thoughtfully
Do not soak nappies as this will wear out the nappies faster
We do not recommend to Napisan the nappies

    WASHING
All of your nappies can be washed together as the colours will not run
Do a rinse cycle first or add a pre-rinse to your cycle
Maximum wash temperature is 40°C for the shells (high temperatures will affect the waterproof layer). Inserts can be washed at any temperature.
We recommend that you DO NOT use any detergent that contains:
    - bleach (including oxygen bleach/whiteners)
    - enzymes
    - fabric softener
    - plant oils
    - any other additives (including brighteners, whiteners, dyes, perfumes, essential oils etc)

    DRYING
Do not tumble dry nappy shells
We recommend drying nappies in the sun (as it is a natural bleach) - although direct sunlight is not required, just exposure to natural light
Hang nappies on the line on their side to avoid the elastic stretching

    GENERAL CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Be gentle when undoing the snaps so that you don’t weaken the material
DO NOT USE BARRIER CREAMS, as they will leave a film on the nappies which will reduce their absorbency. You could try a cornstarch powder instead or something like coconut oil

    Pre First Use Wash Instructions

To build the absorbency of the nappies (especially the inserts, think of them like a new towel) your can either:

    a) Wash the inserts 4 times in the washing machine. You do not need to dry them between each wash. You only need to use detergent for one cycle

    b) Alternatively you can soak the nappies in a water for 24 hours and then wash in the washing machine once with detergent

Strip Cleaning Nappies EVERY 3-6 MONTHS or if you need to increase absorbency:

First wash your clean nappies in warm water (40°C) with no detergent filled up to a high level
Then wash your nappies again using a small amount of dishwashing liquid (yes, the one you use on your dishes - one that has no moisturiser). You can put the liquid directly into the drum of your machine
Rinse as many times as necessary to remove any suds

    FAQs:

    MY CLOTH NAPPIES ARE LEAKING!
QUESTION: My cloth nappies are leaking. Agh! What could be the reason?

ANSWER: There is generally always a solution to leaking nappies:

The nappy needs to be done up more tightly around the stomach or legs
The insert is bunching in the pocket
The nappy needs to be prewashed (see care and wash instructions)
There is clothing pushing up against the absorbent part of the nappy, causing wicking
The nappy has been left on too long – change more frequently and/or add an insert
A film has been left on the nappy due to using too much detergent, barrier creams or fabric softener. In which case you will need to do a strip clean (see care and wash instructions)

    MY CLOTH NAPPIES ARE SMELLING!
QUESTION: Help! My nappies have slowly built up a wee / urine smell?

ANSWER: Your first solution should be to dry your reusable nappies in the sun and wind. The sun really does work wonders at getting rid of smells (and stains). Also make sure your cloth nappies are fully dry before you bring them in and put them in the cupboard/draw. If this still doesn’t help then there are some other steps you can take ( in order of preference):

Use extra detergent for a little while with your nappies - perhaps all they need is a little bit more detergent to work out the ammonia smell
Wash your cloth nappies in warmer water (but make sure it’s not too hot so that you don’t damage the PUL layer)
Make sure you wash your cloth nappies more frequently. It is best not to leave cloth diapers anymore than 48 hours in between washes
Leave your cloth nappy bucket outside with the lid open
If you have to keep your nappy bucket inside then tape a nappy bucket deodoriser to the lid, as this will also help to reduce the ammonia smell
Rinse your nappies before putting them in your nappy bucket

NOTE: Do NOT use Bicarb soda. Although this works well in getting rid of the ammonia smell it can damage your cloth nappies. It also requires the use of vinegar to neutralise the pH, which can also damage your nappies!

    MY CLOTH NAPPIES ARE STAINED!
QUESTION: I have stubborn stains. What can I do?

ANSWER: The best (and most natural way) to get rid of stains on your reusable nappies is the SUN. The UV from the sun is a natural bleach and it also sterilisers your nappies as an added bonus. Even if it is a cloudy day the UV still reaches your nappies and can work at getting rid of those stains. Simply, try hanging your nappies outside. In fact, apparently the moonlight can also help!

Sometimes, it just take a couple of washes to get rid of the stains. As long as you have followed the washing instructions your nappies should be clean enough to keep using, as the stains are only cosmetic.

If the stain is still persisting (after a couple of weeks) and you are REALLY desperate to get rid of them then you can try a sunlight/velvet soap or spray (only) the affected area with a little bit of stain remover. Make sure this is only done on a clean and dry cloth nappy and that you only do it on the odd occasion if absolutely necessary (eg. if you’re bub has eaten blueberries).
