    Wholemeal Ancient Grain contains all the healthy ingredients present in our standard Ancient Grain but is made with wholemeal organic spelt and wholemeal organic Khorasan flour.
     
    Nutritionists are strongly recommending that we look for low GI foods in our diet, that is, foods that slowly release glucose into your blood stream keeping your energy levels balanced, meaning you will feel fuller for longer between meals.
     
    If you look at what characterises a low GI food, it is a food that is less processed, contains wholemeal or wholegrains has lots of seeds uses stoneground flour and is made with sourdough.
     
    Wholemeal Ancient Grain ticks all of theses boxes. Notwithstanding all of the above, to carry the Healthybake label it must taste great and this product certainly ticks that box.

    A perfect blend of the ancient grains – spelt and Khorasan with a liberal amount of sunflower, linseed and poppy seed blended throughout.
     
    This bread has a rich nutty taste with a bit of “crunch” that is highlighted and enhanced with the natural sweetness of the Khorasan grain.
     
    Ancient grain bread is a new experience and can be served with any sweet or savoury accompaniment or is delicious just eaten on its own. Best of all, the children will love it! This bread has all the nutritional attributes of spelt and Khorasan, tastes great and is “healthy”.

    Store: In an airtight glass container in a cool, dry, dark cupboard. Or in the refrigerator.

    KHORASAN:
    Khorasan has 20-40% more protein than normal wheat breads, a higher mineral and vitamin content and is easily digestable. Not only does it taste great it’s “healthy”.
     
    Organic Khorasan grown only organically in Australia.Khorasan is one of the ancient grains recently introduced into today’s contemporary diets. Our bread has a rich buttery taste that has a natural sweetness without any bitter aftertaste.
     
    The loaf possesses a fine, almost cake like texture and has a light amber colour. Most wheat sensitive people can eat Khorasan as an alternative to normal wheat breads.
     
    It can be toasted, made into sandwiches or used for dips, but is delightful just served on its own without any accompaniment. Khorasan has gained good acceptance with children, as they love the natural sweetness and texture of this bread.
     
    SPELT:
    Spelt grain is one of the oldest known to man dating back 6000 – 5000 BC. Spelt has lost none of its original nutritional benefits. Unlike modern wheat, it has not been hybridised and maintains its original genetic composition.
     
    Spelt is ideally suited for organic growing due to its natural resistance to insect pests and disease.
     
    Spelt bread has a fine grain texture with a subtle but tasty flavour. It is an ideal substitute for wheat bread with many, many more nutritional and health benefits. Most people with wheat sensitivities can safely eat and enjoy spelt bread.
