OCIA Certified Organic and a Raw Food - Palmaria palmata

Dulse Flakes Maine Coast Certified Organic (113g)
We are very blessed to be able to provide some of the best Dulse in the world! It's no wonder this is our most popular sea vegetable. Whole Leaf Dulse is soft and chewy, with a distinctive taste and a rich red color. It doesn't require any soaking or cooking, which makes it a great snack to be enjoyed right out of the bag. It's a colorful salad ingredient; is tasty in soups; zesty when fried and boosts the flavor of any sandwich creation.

Maine harvested Dulse:
Our Dulse is hand-harvested from remote Gulf of Maine bays at the peak of nutrition and taste (early summer to early fall.) All of our Dulse products undergo annual OCIA organic inspection for handling and harvesting, as well as voluntary testing for heavy metal, chemical and microbiological contaminants. Test results for 2009 harvest.

Rich in nutrients:
Like all sea vegetables, Dulse is an excellent source of Iodine. It also contains a significant amount of protein compared to land vegetables. It's rich in iron (10% DV/serving) and a good source of some of the B-vitamins. Nutritional chart for our sea vegetables.

Dulse available as whole leaf, granules, powder
Besides the whole leaf form, Dulse is also available as flakes, granules and powder. All of our milled Dulse products have the same nutrition as whole Dulse, at much less cost per ounce. The Dulse for our milled products grows in well-protected shallow passages and is much easier to harvest than our whole Dulse. For this reason, it gives higher yields and is less expensive, which means the savings get passed to you.

Dulse flakes and granules are great sprinkled into salads, grain dishes, soups, or stir-fries — anywhere you want that distinctive sea-salty flavor. Dulse flakes are available in 4 oz bags or bulk by the pound. Dulse Granules are available in bulk and as part of our Sea Seasonings line — convenient and re-fillable 1.5 oz shaker containers. Dulse granules are also an ingredient in Sea Salt with Sea Veg and Triple Blend Flakes.

Dulse Powder works especially well in energy drinks and juices, as well as soups, dressings and sauces. The powder provides the same great flavor and nutrition as our other Dulse products, and a smooth texture that blends well with other ingredients. Dulse powder can also be put into capsules and taken as a supplement.

Applewood Smoked Dulse
For a unique spin on our most popular sea vegetable, we offer Applewood Smoked Dulse. It's gently and carefully smoked at low temperatures (the smoking chamber does not exceed 118°F) with native Maine Applewood for a delicate, yet complex smoky sea flavor. Smoked Dulse is tender and tangy as a snack and makes a flavorful ingredient in soups, salads and sandwiches. It goes great with egg dishes, too.
