Oh my goodness - we LOVE this product!! The fragrant pure deep coconut flavour is not like usual coconut oils/butters, nor is it overly rich. It tastes like a nut butter with a coconut flavour - we know you will LOVE it too.

Just remember: to really dig in past the top thin layer of coconut fat which has a light flavour. Once you get down to the darker creamy insides you will see why we love this Creamed Coconut SO MUCH!

A great high fibre alternative to Coconut Milks and Coconut Creams.
High in rare rare Medium Chain Fatty Acids such as Lauric acid - boosts metabolism, aids heart health, diabetes, Alzheimers, memory loss, arthritis, skin care and great for pets!
Coconut Oil vs Creamed Coconut Butter:
Coconut Oil is the fat from coconut - used for cooking.
Coconut Butter is the coconut flesh dried, then ground. The oil floats to the top when you make coconut butter. So scoop past this top layer and enjoy the wonderful Coconut Butter within. Best used for baking and spreads.
What is Creamed Coconut or Coconut Butter? Creamed Coconut is pure coconut and contains no water.
Niulife Creamed Coconut is certified organic whole coconut meat, in concentrated form. The white coconut flesh is dried to remove the water and then ground to a fine paste or "nut butter". Creamed Coconut has a smooth creamy consistency due to its high (70%) fat content. It is therefore a rich dietary source of healthy coconut oil.

Note: this is a food, not a cooking oil. If you use high heat, it will burn.

How is Creamed Coconut Used? Creamed Coconut is very versatile.
Mix 1 or 2 teaspoons with water or juice to make a creamy coconut milk drink or add it to coffee/cocoa as a non-dairy creamer. It is an excellent ingredient for cooking and baking. Because of its low moisture content it can be mixed straight into the batter or dough of breads and pastries.

It is great as a thickener added to curries or stir-fries and enhances the flavour of soups. It can be blended in smoothies, mixed with melted chocolate, made into ice cream or spread on toast or crackers for a snack.

In fact, it is so delicious that many people just eat it by the spoonful, straight from the jar.

Note: In colder weather Creamed Coconut will become hard due to its high content of natural coconut oil and fibre. It will quickly soften up with a little warming. Stir well if separated. Does not need refrigeration.

Certified Organic Fair Trade Creamed Coconut Butter (500g) by Niulife

How is Creamed Coconut different from canned coconut milks and creams?
Commercial coconut milks and creams are generally sold in cans or tetra packs. The main ingredient in these products is water. If the fat content is 17%, it is called "coconut milk." If the fat content is 24%, it is called "coconut cream" (though some canned "cream" can be as low as 8% fat and full of added gum thickeners). Most of what you are purchasing is just water. Creamed Coconut, on the other hand, is pure coconut and contains no water.

Unlike the canned milk/cream, it also contains all the fibre of the coconut. Pure, dried coconut contains even more fibre per gram than oat bran!

This fibre has been stripped out of commercial coconut milks and creams. Furthermore, almost all commercial coconut milks and creams have additives to prevent the water from separating from the coconut oil, and they also have sulphites added as a preservative. Creamed Coconut contains no additives or preservatives. It is 100% natural coconut made from certified organic coconuts grown without pesticides or fertilisers.

      Coconut Flesh:
The white flesh of mature coconuts is rich in healthy fibre, protein, oil and minerals. It can be eaten fresh, desiccated, creamed or as flour.
Fibre can improve digestion, help regulate blood sugar, protect against diabetes, help prevent heart disease and cancer, and aid in weight loss. Coconut flesh is also a source of balanced protein containing all 8 essential amino acids. With almost 20% protein coconut flour has far more than wholemeal grain flours do and none of the gluten. This is great news for those who have developed an allergy to gluten or a sensitivity to wheat.

    Coconut and your Health:
If there was an oil you could use for your daily cooking needs that helped protect you from heart disease, cancer, and other degenerative conditions, improved your digestion, strengthened your immune system, protected you from infectious illnesses, and helped you lose excess weight, would you be interested? This is what coconut oil can do for you.

Coconut oil is special because it is full of rare Medium Chain Fatty Acids such as Lauric acid, otherwise found in mother’s milk. These MCFAs are digested through a different pathway to the common Long Chain Fats found in other oils being absorbed directly into the bloodstream and rapidly converted to energy by the liver. Thyroid activity increases thus raising metabolic rate, encouraging physical activity and burning more energy including stored fat (link to weight management section).

Coconut oil is also a saturated fat which means it is safe from oxidising and will not produce dangerous free radicals in your body. It supports the immune system and has anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties. For centuries traditional healers in India (Ayurveda) and the South Pacific have used raw Virgin Coconut Oil as a medicine, topical skin treatment and massage oil. Today it is widely used as a skin moisturiser and beauty treatment.

Coconut oil has been called the healthiest dietary oil on earth. If you're not using coconut oil for your daily cooking and body care needs you're missing out on one of nature's most amazing health products.

Kokonut Pacific recognised for Fair Trade work:

The European Commission carried out a study in its 2002 Work Program to investigate Responsible Entrepreneurship (RE) for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). “Responsible Entrepreneurship means how to run a business in a way that enhances its positive contribution to society whilst minimising negative impacts on people and the environment. Responsible Entrepreneurship is, therefore, a way of adding value to both the business and society.” RE denotes voluntary business strategies to achieve the EU’s definition of sustainable development and is fully in line with the notion of corporate social responsibility, which the EU has defined as

"a concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns in their interaction with their stakeholders on a voluntary basis".

Kokonut Pacific has worked within this definition and framework since its inception by being involved in socially responsible activities without being familiar with the CSR concept per se.

This was recognised by the Asia Pacific Forum for Environment and Development (APFED) when it presented the 2006 Ryutaro Hasimoto Gold Award (First Prize) to Kokonut Pacific Solomon Islands for the work it was doing in ‘Rehabilitating a rural economy with virgin coconut oil production’.

Kokonut Pacific is a foundation member of the Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand (FTAANZ) which is closely linked with the international FT organisation FLO. FTAANZ is currently working with European groups to establish suitable criteria for coconuts.
