    Produced by stone milling the whole barley grain, extracting the inedible husk (or spikelets), then sifting the bran from the flour to create a flavoursome barley flour

    Certified organic barley flour is rich in nutrients and an excellent source of dietary fibre. Pearl barley has a milder flavour than barley grain.

    This flour is certified organic so is free of chemicals, pesticides and GMO.

    Barley grain is low in fat, rich in carbohydrates and contains no cholesterol.

    As with other whole grains such as oats, barley is an excellent source of soluble and insoluble dietary fibre. Studies have shown that the insoluble fibre found in barley can be extremely effective in maintaining regular intestinal function, thus reducing the incidence of certain types of cancer such as colon cancer.

    Additionally, the soluble fibre found in barley can help lower blood cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease.

    How to enjoy: Mix with other gluten flours for baking or use as a thickener. Add a little to wheat flour for a moist wholemeal bread loaf.
     
    Because of the low gluten content, Barley Flour must be mixed with other flours to make a yeast-raised bread, can be substituted for wheat flour in quick breads, scones and other baked goods. Perfect as a thickening agent in soups, gravies, casseroles and stews.
