Maya Mocha: Overtones of delicious chocolate layered over the intensity of a rich, dark body with a piquant spike of chiles.
When Montezuma was drinking his “Nectar of the Gods”, a brew that combined cocoa beans with vanilla, honey, and chiles, he was missing one important ingredient. Isn’t it a wonder that roasted coffee beans brought from the Middle East would intertwine so deliciously with roasted cacoa beans from the New World?
Teeccino’s Maya Chocolaté honors Montezuma with a hint of heat from chiles beneath rich chocolate blended with dark roasted coffee notes from ramon nuts to create a brew surely worthy of the Gods ~ after all, this flavor had to have been dreamt up in heaven! Montezuma, I really wish you could be here to taste it! (Previously known as Maya Mocha).

More on the Herbs Used in Herbal Coffee - Ingredients:
Roasted Carob Pods: Valued since biblical times as a nutritious, naturally sweet food, carob pods are often used today as a healthy substitute for chocolate. Carob's anti-diarrhea properties were discovered by a Spanish physician who observed that children of the poorer class ate large quantities of carob pods and had less digestive problems than children of the wealthy, even though their living conditions were less hygienic. Studies since have confirmed carob's effectiveness in resolving infantile diarrhea safely. Carob is high in calcium and Vitamin A and is rich in dietary fibre (26%) and polyphenols (21%) - those same anti-oxidant compounds found in tea that are receiving so much media attention.
Roasted Chicory Root: Used for more than 20 centuries, chicory was first roasted and drunk as a coffee substitute during Napoleon's Continental Blockade in 1806. Chicory is naturally high in potassium, calcium, and inulin, sometimes also called FOS, the fructooligosaccharde that helps to restore the optimal ecology of the gastrointestinal tract by feeding the beneficial bacteria. Chicory has a stimulating effect on digestion, elimination and helps the body metabolize milk by breaking the butter fat into smaller particles that are easier to digest. Chicory is popular in France combined with coffee to reduce caffeine and coffee's acidity.
Roasted Barley: The nutritious grain of the Egyptians and Romans, barley is reputed to help build strength and vitality. Barley gruel, the staple of the Tibetan diet, keeps Tibetans thriving in the highest altitudes. Barley is naturally high in potassium that has an alkaline effect in the body. Barley contains tocotrienol, a nutrient that helps lower cholesterol. Roasted barley contributes a full-bodied, nutty flavour to herbal coffee.
Figs: This sweet fruit has been enjoyed for over 5,000 years for its nutritious and slightly laxative properties. Figs have anti-carcinogenic activity and they are high in potassium. Figs yield a sweet, caramel note to herbal coffee. Figs are used in Turkey to impart their rich flavour to coffee.
Dates: The fruit of the desert, dates develop their sweet, plump and shiny flesh in the hot dry sun while thriving on deep hidden reserves of water. Deliciously sweet, dates are gently laxative and contain digestive enzymes, which help promote good digestion. Dates contribute their honey-like flavour to herbal coffee.
Almonds: Almonds are nutritiously dense. They contain a full range of B vitamins and significant amounts of Vitamin E, magnesium, calcium, copper, zinc, potassium, and iron. Almonds have been shown in studies to help reduce cholesterol when eaten daily. A number of factors probably influence this effect including the almond's fatty acid profile, the fibre content, the vitamin and mineral content and its plant sterols that may help limit cholesterol absorption. Teeccino's almonds are roasted to a deep golden brown.
